Things to do in Kansas City
We are staying in the area known as the Country Club Plaza. The Plaza is an outdoor museum of romantic Spanish architecture and European art where people live and work every day amid its beauty. The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is the cultural jewel of Kansas City and just three blocks from the Country Club Plaza. It is known for its encyclopedic collection of art from nearly every continent and culture. They have an art collection spanning 5,000 years in neoclassical & modern galleries, plus a sculpture garden. Loose Park
At 75-acres, Jacob L. Loose Park is one of Kansas City’s most popular, beautiful and historical parks. It is the third largest park in Kansas City, Missouri, located at 51st Street and Wornall Road. The park has beautiful walking paths, plenty of room to just relax and enjoy the beauty, a lake, Civil War markers, tennis courts, a water park, picnic areas, and a Rose Garden. Crown Center
Crown Center is a shopping and entertainment district dominated by its namesake mall, which overlooks a plaza with an ice rink. Family-friendly attractions include the Hallmark Visitors Center, with exhibits on this iconic local brand, and the Coterie Theatre, staging both classic and contemporary shows. Kaleidoscope
While at Crown Center be sure to visit Kaleidoscope, a FREE art-making space for kids ages 14 and under and their accompanying adults! Located in Crown Center, it is Hallmark’s gift to kids and families.
During each 50-minute studio session, kids choose their own creative adventures. Using Hallmark materials (all sorts of paper, stickers, ribbon, and more), Crayola supplies (crayons, markers, paint), and their own vivid imaginations, kids create a variety of art projects! We even give them a bag to take everything home. It is free of charge but you will want to reserve your spot to be sure you can join the fun at Hallmark Kaleidoscope.
Legoland Discovery Center

Sea Life
An interactive aquarium located at the Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri. The aquarium contains thousands of aquatic creatures, plus interactive touch pools and a 360° ocean tunnel. Union Station
Just a short walk across the skybridge from Crown Center is this fascinating historical site. Opened in 1914, Union Station opened her doors as a working train station accommodating hundreds of thousands of passengers. Now, over a hundred years later, her walls echo with a treasure trove of Kansas City’s past and living history. You will find visual documentation of the progress of the original construction, restaurants, coffee shops and the largest display of miniature trains you could imagine. National WWI Museum
Not far from Crown Center you can enjoy the National World War I Museum including life-size trenches and a walk-through shell crater. The National WWI Museum and Memorial in Kansas City, Missouri, is home to the most comprehensive collection of World War One items in the world.
